Shaping the Future of our Schools and Community:

In May 2026, the Mountain View School District (District) sought applications for membership to the 7-11 Committee (Committee) to establish a priority list of use for surplus space located at District’s following two locations, as well as any other property subsequently added to the Committee’s purview:

Kranz Property

12460 Fineview Street
El Monte, CA 91732

-

Madrid Property

3320 Gilman Road
El Monte, CA 91732

Committee Responsibilities

Members of the Committee are expected to fullfill their duties by participating in approximately four to six total meetings, scheduled as needed. Members of the Committee will serve only on a voluntary basis. Pursuant to Education Code section 17390, the Committee must be composed of not less than seven (7) and no more than eleven (11) members, and must be representative of specific groups within the community. This is commonly called a Surplus Property “7-11” Committee.

The Committee is charged with the following duties:

  • Review the projected school enrollment and other data as provided by the District to determine the amount of surplus space and real property;
  • Establish a priority list of use of the Properties that will be acceptable to the community;
  • Cause to have circulated throughout the attendance area a priority list of the Properties and provide for hearings for community input to the committee on acceptable uses;
  • Make a final determination regarding the limits of tolerance of the Properties; and
  • Forward to the District’s governing board a report recommending uses of the Properties.

Applying to the 7-11 Committee

While applications are no longer being accepted for membership, during the application period ending on May 28, 2026, all community members that were interested in applying to serve, that met the requirements and did NOT own property within 500 feet of the Kranz and Madrid properties, were invited to submit their application for consideration.
