Head Start Preschool Application Period Begins March 1

Head Start Preschool Application Period Begins March 1

MVSD’s Head Start and State Preschool programs will begin accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year beginning March 1 and March 2 at Mountain View Park.  This enrollment event is for the 2017-18 program year.  The agency is proud to offer a new program for younger students called “Early Head Start”.  This program is for young toddlers, ages 0 to 2.9 years old, in a home based setting.  Our center-based Head Start program is for three-year-old and four-year-old students ready to begin preschool.
For over 52 years MVSD’s Head Start Preschool program has provided a preschool experience for eligible preschool families that reside within the Mountain View School District.  Our program is one of the Delegate Agencies of the Los Angeles County Office of Education  Head Start Preschool Grantee.  Our goal is to prepare young students for the Transitional Kindergarten program or regular Kindergarten program at the school site.
“We recognize that a child’s future depends on their social, emotional and physical well-being, therefore our Head Start program works with parents, families and communities to ensure that children receive the educational, social and health services needed to succeed both in their present environment and later in life,” said Alma Gonzales, MVSD’s Director of Preschool Programs.
Placement in the Head Start Preschool program is based on eligibility.  To qualify for the program parents must come to the enrollment event or come to the main Head Start office which is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.  Children with diagnosed disabilities and three-year-olds are given priority enrollment.
