Families Enjoy 5th Annual Community Fair

Mountain View School District was proud to collaborate with several community partners to provide families with vital information to help improve their health and quality of life at the District’s 5th Annual Community Fair. Those in attendance at the Fair were able to obtain valuable resources, celebrate student artists, participate in the District’s visual and performing arts program, enjoy student performances, sample food from District vendors and participate in fun family activities.

The Fair featured many service organizations and vendors who distributed important information on services available in the community including health providers, wellness, nutrition, early childhood education, college readiness, WIC, educational support, financial assistance, city services, safety, and more.

To highlight the District’s nutrition services and its breakfast and lunch programs, vendors including Integrated Food Service, Los Cabos, Chef’s Corner, Yang’s-Ling’s, Rose and Shore, Senior Felix, CitraPac, and the Fruit Guys provided samples of some of the quality foods our students enjoy.  They also offered new products for students and families to taste-test and vote on.  Free bicycle repair was provided by Day One and District P.E. teachers led fun physical education activities on the field.  The Arroyo High School Key Club members were excellent volunteers, providing great support for the event.  The first 200 families in attendance received a salad tosser and each family received a raffle ticket for several raffle prizes that were given away.

The large crowd was also treated to excellent student entertainment by the Madrid Middle School Jazz Band, Voorhis School’s Folklorico Group, Miramonte School’s 3rd grade Break Dancers, and the 5th grade Conga Kids Dancers from La Primaria.   A special art gallery set up in the library featured the exceptional student artwork from each school beautifully displayed for all to see.

MVSD is dedicated to students’ health, well-being, and their ability to learn and the annual Community Fair supports the District’s wellness mission of creating an environment that supports and advocates for lifelong healthy eating habits, physical activity and mental wellness.

“We greatly appreciate our many community partners for being here to provide our families with resources that will help improve their health and wellness,” said Angelica Sifuentes Donoso, Director of Family Engagement and Extended Learning.  “We have a great turnout and it’s wonderful to see so many people take part in this worthwhile event.  Seeing our families enjoying time together and celebrating the wonderful work of our students is heart-warming.  We are grateful to everyone who participated and made our 5th Annual Community Fair such a success.”
