MVSD hosted a Family Field Trip to the September 2 USC football game at the Coliseum.   Over 200 tickets were given out to families throughout the District enabling them to see the Trojans take on the University of Nevada Reno.  MVSD also provided transportation for those who wanted to ride to the game by school bus.

The District applied for the tickets through the Trojan Kids Corner program which enables local children to enjoy complimentary admission and get to experience a variety of intercollegiate sporting events at USC’s world-class campus.

“Our students and families had an amazing time at the USC Football game,” said Dr. Angelica De La Rosa, Parkview Principal.   “Most had never been and I was humbled to share that experience with them. We have so many great colleges and universities near our El Monte Community and it’s crucial that we have this exposure so that our students know what options are there for them. I'm looking forward to sharing more experiences like these with our Parkview Eagles and our Mountain View School District community. Fight On!!!”

MVSD’s families excitedly cheered on the Trojans who were victorious, dominating Nevada with a score of 66 to 14.

“Experiencing the game through a child’s eyes is a very humbling experience,” said Nellie Huerta, Community Liaison who accompanied the families from Payne School.  “Most had never been to a game so that was special to me.”

According to Priscilla Figueroa, MVSD’s Director of Family Engagement, the District looks forward to providing fun, educational and enriching opportunities for families and has scheduled additional family field trips throughout the school year.
