The Mountain View School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Raymond Andry as the District’s new Superintendent of Schools. Andry has been part of the MVSD team for 12 years, serving as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the past seven years and as principal of Kranz Intermediate School for five years. Prior to joining MVSD, he served as a teacher, Project Director and Assistant Principal in the Montebello Unified School District and as a teacher and instructional assistant in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Throughout his 25 plus years in education, Andry has held positions of high responsibility with vast experience working with both elementary and middle school students, staff and families.
In his new role as Superintendent, Andry is looking forward to continuing the quality programs and services MVSD has provided for students, staff, and families.
“Over the past 12 years, Mountain View has become a second home for me, and ensuring we provide the best for everyone we serve is my long-term goal,” said Andry. “One of my main areas of focus for the coming year is to spend time listening to our school community as we plan for the future of the District. This will include speaking directly to our students to fully consider their ideas and perspectives as we move forward.”
Andry’s appointment was unanimously approved by the Board of Education at their regular Board Meeting, December 14. He is set to replace the current Superintendent, Dr. Lillian Maldonado French, who is retiring after 12 1/2 years of service as Mountain View’s Superintendent and a 37-year career in education.
According to Jacqueline Saldaña, Board of Education President, Andry has worked closely with Dr. French these past seven years as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and the Board has seen the work that his Department has accomplished under his leadership.
“At times, Mr. Andry has stepped in, if even for a short time, for Dr. French with the Board. A very unusual opportunity because of Dr. French's commitment to her responsibilities,” said Saldaña. “Mr. Andry understands the culture within the District and the Board, and has had the opportunity to be present, collaborate, and hear firsthand from the Board our intentions and goals. The Board is excited to collaborate with and serve alongside Mr. Andry.”
Since joining the District 12 years ago, Andry has maintained visibility and approachability within the MVSD communities. He has continued to show a solid commitment to serving in the best interest of students and their families. In addition, he has developed excellent working relationships with District staff as well as the Classified and Teacher's Associations.
Andry is currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Massachusetts Global. He earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and his undergraduate degree in History from California State University, Northridge.
“These past two years have been especially tough for the Mountain View School District,” said Saldaña. “Mr. Andry and his Department worked tirelessly and incredibly to serve our students and families during the pandemic. Stepping into this role will not be easy, but we believe that Mr. Andry's skillset and commitment to our District community are best suited at this time to keep us moving forward.”
