Students in the Mountain View School District celebrated being 100 days smarter as they commemorated reaching the 100th day of the 2022-23 school year on February 8.

Teachers and staff incorporated fun activities that emphasized the number 100 including dressing up as 100-year-olds, counting 100 items, designing and wearing 100-day hats, necklaces and glasses, completing math problems and writing about what they’ve learned in the 100 days.

At Maxson School students in Ms. Lewis’ class were joined by their Buddies from Ms. Alfonso’s class for some 100 days of school fun with Legos and Linker Cubes.  Students built creations using 10 sets of 10 Legos and built long chains and towers by connecting 100 Linker Cubes.  A few students in Ms. De Camp’s 2nd grade class dressed up as 100-year-olds and wrote about what they’d be doing when they reach 100 years of age.  The group of 2nd graders agreed that when they turn 100 they will probably be reading and playing with their grandchildren.

Pint sized golden oldies were also found at La Primaria and Payne Schools with students going all out with their 100-year-old outfits including canes, walkers, gray hair and even a life alert necklace.

In addition to building their academic skills, throughout the 100 days of school students have learned the importance of good citizenship by being kind, respectful and responsible and participated in social-emotional learning and lessons.

The 100th day is a little more than half way through the school year and MVSD is proud of all that has been accomplished by the students and staff.

“Our students have completed a tremendous amount of work these past 100 days and I am extremely proud of their efforts and all they’ve achieved,” said Dr. Raymond Andry, Superintendent.  “I commend our entire Mt. View team of teachers, classified staff, administrators and Board members for providing our students with 100 days of outstanding instruction, excellent support, and unending dedication to their success and well-being.”
