Kindergarten/TK Registration Begins February 12

Kindergarten/TK Registration Begins February 12

The Mountain View School District will begin Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year on February 12, 2019.

Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2019, are invited to register in MVSD’s outstanding full day kindergarten program.  Kindergartners in Mountain View attend a full school day, providing the opportunity for additional quality instructional time in the areas of literacy, science, social studies, fine arts, visual arts, oral language development, mathematics, writing and physical education.  The full day program allows students to build stronger academic and social skills, resulting in them being better prepared to meet the rigorous grade level content and performance standards.

Children turning five years old between September 2, 2019 and March 2, 2020 are invited to enroll in the District’s full day Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. TK is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten and gives young learners a head start and provides them with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is tailored to meet their academic and social needs.  MVSD’s TK Program uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate for young learners.  It is designed to build a solid foundation for success in school for “young” 5 year olds and provides children with an enriched foundational early childhood education experience to prepare them for success in the more structured academic setting of traditional kindergarten.  TK cultivates in students an overall readiness and enthusiasm for learning.

Mountain View School District is proud to have highly qualified teachers, exceptional early literacy programs, extensive technology learning programs, biliteracy/dual language program at select schools, a school-wide uniform policy, clean, safe and secure schools, a nationally recognized family engagement program, a college-bound culture, free breakfast and lunch programs, free bus transportation for those beyond walking distance from their school, and excellent after school care and instructional support offered through the THINK Together program.

To find your assigned school, please call 626-652-4000 or visit the District’s website at www.mtviewschools.com   Children do not need to be present to register; however, parents do need to bring proof of residency, (current gas, electric, water bill, and/or notarized landlord verification), proof of the child’s age (birth certificate, baptismal certificate or passport) and the child’s immunization record.
