Red Dot Uniforms Donates Face Masks

As our world, nation, state and community continue to feel the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, MVSD knows that in our community, we are stronger together as we rise to meet the challenges of these truly unprecedented times.  MVSD was the lucky recipient of a prime example of stronger together, as well as human kindness as one of El Monte’s businesses made a donation of face masks for the food service employees distributing the Grab & Go meals to children.

Sam Saleh, owner of Red Dot Uniforms in El Monte’s Valley Mall reached out to MVSD’s Nutrition Services Director, Susan Delgado to offer gloves for the food service workers.  Delgado shared that the District had a supply of gloves but was trying to build up its supply of face masks which proved difficult due to the shortage of mask availability during the pandemic.  Saleh then generously offered a shipment of face masks he recently received from a vendor that he planned to sell on his store website.

“Mountain View School District has always been so good to me and I just want to pay it forward,” Saleh said.

The masks, made from anti-microbial T-Shirt fabric, were passed out to food service staff members responsible for preparing and distributing Grab & Go meals at Payne, Kranz and Twin Lakes schools.

“We are so grateful to Sam for his generous and kind donation,” said Lillian Maldonado French, MVSD Superintendent.  “The safety of our employees and our families is extremely important and having these additional masks will be very helpful as we continue our meal service for our community’s children,” she added.

MVSD, along with El Monte City School District, El Monte Union High School District, Rosemead School District and Valle Lindo School District are continuing to provide Grab & Go breakfasts and lunches for children 18 and under, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 14 school sites throughout El Monte and South El Monte.  Locations can be found on the MVSD website at www.mtviewschools.com
